4:00pm - 6:00pm, Opening
Reception: New Exhibitions. Main Gallery: Grey Matter juried by
Linda Weintraub (opened to the public October 25, through November 16).
Grey occupies that sometimes uneasy space between black & white; is it
compromise or capitulation, cooperation or co-opting? It is also the
colloquial term for the thinking parts of our brains. Make of it what
you will. This is a group exhibition of works in all media – painting,
photography, prints, drawings, mixed media and sculpture.
Solo Exhibition Gallery:
Leslie Bender (through November 30). A resident of the Hudson Valley
starting in 1986, Bender is well-known for her work as a public and
sometimes highly political muralist; her credits include a 200-foot
mural, “Dungeons & Dragons” in Queens, NY. She has executed numerous
backdrops for performing arts productions regionally and across the
eastern U.S. Locally, Leslie has worked at the Woodstock School of Art
and helped the school set up a lithography program. Her art work has
been included in shows at the Whitney Museum Downtown Branch and the
Museum of Modern Art in New York City, as well as museums and galleries
across the country. Leslie Bender is represented by the James Cox
Gallery in Willow, NY, and Albert Shahinian Fine Art in Hudson and
Poughkeepsie. [attached image of art by Leslie Bender: "Sufi Series with
