2:00pm - 4:00pm, REGIONAL EXHIBITION reception for artists from New York and contiguous states who were chosen by Tom Fletcher, owner of Fletcher Gallery in Woodstock, NY. Awards totaling $1,500 will be awarded. The exhibition will continue through September 6th and is open to the public, free of charge. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 9 to 3. 12:30 pm - 5 pm, Roots of 1969 Woodstock Festival. An all-star panel will explore the backstory to the Woodstock Festival of 1969 from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. This will be followed by a contemporary Soundout concert from 2:45 to 5 pm. Confirmed panelists include Michael Lang, Jean Young, Bill West, Jeremy Wilber and Paul McMahon. Geddy Sveikauskas will moderate. The Soundout will feature such musical acts as Hair of the Dog, Becki Brindle, Joey Eppard, Frankie (without his Fingers), Spiv and Paul McMahon. Justin Foy, WDST afternoon air personality, will emcee. This event is FREE. Location: Colony Cafe, 22 Rock City Road, Wood. St. Lawrence String Quartet & David Ying, cello kick off the weekend's Maverick Mini-Festival of Great Viennese Quintets.  Haydn: String Quartet in E flat, Op. 9, No. 2.  Alban Berg: Lyric Suite, Schubert: Cello Quintet in C Major, D. 956, Op. 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Opening Reception for "Betty Sturges: A Retrospective". The Woodstock Artists Association & Museum will host an opening reception for a retrospective exhibition of paintings by its former first curator, Betty Sturges, an active figure in the mid-century arts colony. The exhibit runs from August 9th - August 24th. There will be a gallery talk about Betty Sturges and her work on Sunday, August 10th, at 2:00pm. Location: Woodstock Artists Association & Museum (WAAM), located in the heart of Woodstock at 28 Tinker Street, right next to the Village Green. 9:00am - 3:00pm, WSA SILENT AUCTION EXHIBITION begins, and will be on view Wednesday through Saturday from 9 to 3. This exhibition will include work from the WSA Art Collection and work donated by contemporary artists. Bids will be accepted throughout the exhibition, which will continue through October 11 when the winners will be announced. There is no admission.
